Marja Azizulshan Jahan funeral of Hazrat Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Mohammad Reza Golpayegani

Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Mohammad Reza Golpayegani's Marjaa Azim al-Shan Jahan (1316 AH-1414 AH/1372 AH) is one of the contemporary taqlid authorities who became a Marjae after the death of Ayatollah Borujerdi. He was one of the opponents of the Pahlavi regime and one of the companions of Imam Khomeini who, after the Imam's exile to Iraq, issued statements, announcements, telegrams and speeches in support of Imam Khomeini and the Islamic Revolution. The establishment of hospitals, religious schools, Dar al-Qur'an al-Karim, and the Islamic Assembly of London is one of the charitable activities of this authority.

Hazrat Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Mohammad Reza Golpaygani was born on Monday, the eighth of the month of Dhi-Qadha, 1316 AH, in the village of "Gogd", which is located 6 km from Golpaygan city, in a family of knowledge, nobility and piety. His father, the late Seyyed Muhammad Baqir Golpaygani, was considered one of the pious and pious clerics of the place to the extent that he was given the title of Imam.

It seems that he did not have a male child until he was 64 years old, and finally, after visiting the Holy Shrine of Razavi and seeking the favors of the 8th Imam (a.s.), God blessed him with a male child and named him Muhammad Reza. Unfortunately, it didn't take long for this young child to lose his mother's shadow at the age of three and his father's shadow at the age of nine, and the dust of an orphan settled on his face, but the hardships of his childhood made him become a resilient person and stand strong in the face of events and incidents.

departure
After 32 years of jurisprudence and nearly 70 years of teaching in the seminary and after 98 years of a fruitful and blessed life, this sun of jurisprudence finally accepted the call of truth in the evening of Thursday 24 Jumada al-Thani 1414 AH, equivalent to December 18, 1372 AH, in Shahid Rajaei Hospital of Tehran. He said and covered his face in a dust mask and showed a world to his mourning.
The next day, the pure body of that legend of knowledge and piety was buried in Tehran and Qom amidst the great sorrow of the Muslim community, and after the prayer was performed by Hazrat Ayatollah Grand Safi (RA), he was buried near the holy shrine of Hazrat Masoumeh (PBUH).

Grand Ayatollah Golpaygani (RA) says in a part of his will:
"About the seminaries, I would like to remind the respected professors and dear students, the greatness that has been achieved for the seminaries, especially the remarkable global brilliance of the Qom seminary after the Islamic revolution of Iran, and the successes that have been achieved from the East and the West. The need for this Shia center has been extended, it is the result of the guidance and propaganda, efforts and sacrifices and bearing the injuries and hardships of the Salaf scholars and honorable jurists, which has been entrusted to you.
He says in another part of his will:
"I consider it necessary to preserve the principle of the Islamic Republic and it is up to the respected officials not to deviate from the straight line of Islam and try to make the system more compatible with Islam day by day and avoid any differences and protect this divine gift with unity and good and It is up to the people not to fail in preserving the achievements of the Islamic revolution and to use their efforts in supporting the sovereignty of the goals of the Holy Qur'an and the supreme word of Islam, and the satisfaction of Hazrat Baqiyallah and the souls of the worlds. They mean the mercy in their actions and deeds."
